When you come across someone in life who has perfected their craft, they make it seem effortless the way an Olympic ice skater makes ice skating look easy. Our featured cover story showcases RT Construction and the forward moving genius of Frank and Marilu Trevino, who have a talent for turning inspired vision into a reality. What sets them apart from the average is that each partner brings incredible knowledge of the business to the table. Home design and interiors come together in a synergistic bliss. Working with each other’s strengths, the possibilities for making great ideas happen become exponential.
Every square inch of one their newest projects, a designer home, has been crafted for the livability of the family in mind with an emphasis on breathtaking surroundings. Not just your ordinary square footage, the hallways are wide, natural and led lighting create inviting warmth, the ceilings are high, and interiors invigorate the imagination in every space.
Upon entering the inviting property, you know you are going to experience an amazing home. A tropical fused Southwest- themed landscape escorts you to grand scale custom entry doors that open up into a large peaceful entry. A wall of wave tile nicely accented with large glass vases sets the tone for the great ease with which one can breeze through the well laid out floor plan. In the center of the home, just beyond the entry wall, a graceful great room is custom furnished and well endowed with an outstanding chandelier. High ceilings and incredible windows let you know you are someplace special. Overlooking the expansive veranda and pool, the great room is the perfect sitting area for visiting, conversation, reading or resting.
The left hallway leads to entertaining spaces of formal dining with bar and preparation area and then on to the kitchen and west hallway. The kitchen would have even Martha Stuart taking notes on how to design her culinary space.
This dreamy kitchen has a built in full wall pantry, top-of-the-line Miele appliances, a large island, and an exquisite custom tile backsplash that complements the appliances as well as the countertops. One extra touch, a pot filler right at the cooktop for easy water access, is a thoughtful addition one might find in a royal residence.
The kitchen has views of the family room, dining, pool, veranda, backyard play space, outdoor kitchen, and west patio in a continuous radius. This ingenious use of square footage affords a visual proximity that allows one to watch the outdoor activity and get dinner on the table stress free, as well as meeting the family centered livability ideal. Although this home is incredibly impressive and one in which you could host a visiting dignitary, it is skillfully designed to still effectually provide the kind of connectedness that a busy family needs after a long day of meaningful work, school, and activities.
The outdoor space makes tropical living comfortable in the veranda that spans the back of the house. The master bedroom, living room, and kitchen overlook the veranda with the natural light flowing through large windows and full window sliding doors; a key feature of this house. The veranda is designed to be shaded the entire day for comfortable outdoor use at any time while the pool receives full sunlight. The outdoor play set, trampoline, and extra sun tanning platform can be viewed from this vantage point as well, making for a great conversation/relaxation area while other family members enjoy the amenities.
To the east of the veranda a special treat awaits. A freestanding villa with an exquisite mahogany door opens to welcome you into a custom designed theatre. Complete with a wall expanse screen, a kitchen/bar area, restroom and custom décor, this private entertainment area has great ambiance affected by the high ceilings and modernly southwest undertones of the interior décor. The design of the room includes the signature RT Construction concrete stamped floor that is smooth yet provides texture. It seems to add a subtly Texan vibe to the room as well as connecting it to the theme of the property. So professional, so well done, it is noteworthy and cutting edge in the business. This type of custom quality is something the Trevinos have perfected that makes their designs visually fresh and exciting, something you would want in your own home.
The master bedroom has high ceilings, custom doors, and modern décor. Hardwood floors, decadent lighting, and large windows exude comfort and are aesthetically pleasing. Through very tall double doors, the master bath has an awe-striking hallway that leads the eye to a rewarding focal point -a center tub with bubble tile on the wall directly behind it. The whole scene is subtly reminiscent of a sanctuary, appropriate and serene. The shower is behind it, has two entrances and is completely open with ample space. The tile selections create surfaces with a lux interior feel. His and her closets and sink areas allow each to have their own space yet keep the sense of being together. Much like the rest of the home, it is a functional luxury room with a connected flow to it so that the family intimacy is fostered and not lost by the larger square footage. This is where the genius of the designers starts to shine through.
The west side of the home continues with wide hallways, a luxury not often seen in home design. It is peaceful, non-confining and basically brilliant as an architectural feature. The additional bedrooms are each masters as well in order to keep the home balanced and to provide for family members’ individuality. The rooms have been planned architecturally unique in wall configuration, creating character and bringing an element of interest. It is another nice detail that makes the difference between homebuilding and designer homebuilding. In designer homebuilding, you really can get everything you have always wanted and more.
